# Illegal employment

> List of employers penalised for illegal employment, maintained by the Slovak National Labour Inspectorate. Available by company ID through a REST API.

The Slovak National Labour Inspectorate publishes employers where an inspection found illegal employment. This is a final decision by a state authority, not a suspicion, and it has direct consequences in public procurement and in drawing subsidies.

## What the register contains
- Whether the entity is on the list
- Number of records and the date of the earliest one
- Date of the breach, date and number of the decision
- Address of the workplace the inspection covered

## Fields we return

| Field | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `listed` | Whether the entity is on the list. |

## How to request the data

```http
GET /v1/company/ico/51636549?scope=illegal_employment
{
  "illegal_employment": {
    "listed": false,
    "count": 0,
    "since": null,
    "entries": []
  }
}
```

## How often we update

Daily. The list changes irregularly, but because an entry directly affects eligibility in public procurement we check it every day.

## What it is used for

An entry is grounds for exclusion in public procurement, so when vetting a subcontractor this is a check you cannot skip.

When assessing a supply chain, illegal employment is a signal about how a company is run that never appears in the accounting figures.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long does a record stay on the list?

The publication period is set by the National Labour Inspectorate. We return the list as it stands in the latest published state, with dates so you can judge how old a record is.

### Is the listed field always present?

Yes. We always return this source, even when empty, precisely so that not on the list cannot be confused with we did not fetch the data.
