# Travel agency register

> Travel agencies recorded by the Slovak Trade Inspection, including insolvency insurance, the insured amount and any ban on activity.

A travel agency must by law be insured against insolvency so that customers can be refunded if it fails. The Slovak Trade Inspection maintains a register where the insurance and its validity are published.

## What the register contains
- Whether the entity is recorded in the register
- Insurer and insured amount against insolvency
- Validity period of the insurance
- Whether a ban on activity is in force

## Fields we return

| Field | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `is_registered` | Whether the entity is recorded in the travel agency register. |
| `name` | Travel agency name per the register. |
| `address` | Address per the register. |
| `insolvency_provider` | Insurer providing insolvency protection. |
| `insolvency_amount` | Insured amount in EUR. |
| `insolvency_valid_from` | Date from which the insurance is valid. |
| `insolvency_valid_to` | Date until which the insurance is valid. |
| `has_ban` | Whether a ban on activity is in force. |

## How to request the data

```http
GET /v1/company/ico/51636549?scope=soi_travel_agency
{
  "soi_travel_agency": {
    "is_registered": false
  }
}
```

## How often we update

Weekly. The register is a snapshot and insurance contracts renew annually, so a weekly import catches a change with room to spare.

## What it is used for

For tour reselling or corporate travel, valid insolvency insurance is the only thing that returns the customer money if the agency fails. The insolvency_valid_to date therefore matters more than the entry itself.

The has_ban flag is a separate signal: a ban on activity means the agency may not sell tours regardless of being in the register.

## Frequently asked questions

### What if the insurance has expired?

We return the dates as they stand in the register and leave the judgement to you. Expired insurance at an active agency is a serious signal we do not want hidden behind one simplified flag.

### Why only is_registered for entities that are not listed?

Because the source says nothing further about an entity that is not in the register. Padding out empty fields would only imply we looked for something and failed to find it.
